My title is Advanced Patient Care Tech, I was trained at Anne Arundel Community College and we were trained in an acute care setting at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. We had to be there early in the morning two full days a week from early morning until mid-day. My time there I worked with real patients and real emergencies. I was trained in various departments, My duties were phlebotomy, inserting IV's, assessment of vitals signs done manually and by machine, intake and output, blood glucose monitoring, suctioning, ET/tracheotomy care, ventilators, chest tubes, tube feedings, straight Foley catheterization, bladder scanning, GI and GU ostomies, bowel prep, special enemas, 12 lead ECG, cardiac monitoring, reading rhythm strips, traction, cast and joint replacement care, and use of specialized orthopedic equiptment, post mortem care, hospice, med-surge, transport, I work drawing blood, and with labs. I love working with my patients and I am confident and well educated and it doesn't end here.
